Box and Duct Tape

Believe it or not.... This week (month, year ...  whatever!) I am breaking from my "wordless Wednesday" and posting on a day other than Wednesday!

And what has inspired me?  You've read the blog title by now, I presume, so you've probably already guessed.

Boxes.  And Duct Tape.

Somehow, I've become "crafty mom".

It started with way too many boxes.  A couple rolls of duct tape later, and all of a sudden - I not only have and store an endless supply of boxes in the house (thanks to my online shopping habit, and much to the dismay of DH) - - but I also decided that we needed to have duct-tape on hand.  In 7 colors (including Zebra-striped).

So... Here's my box and duct tape resume to date:

1) Leaf Blower

The leaf-blower was my first "real" creation, and was initiated by my son's fascination and love for outdoor work.  Not only does he take his "pretend" mower outside on a regular basis, but once he's finished, he asks for a leaf blower.  Why spend money buying a leaf blower when my "craft" supply cabinet already has some PVC pipe (thanks to agility with my dog several years ago) - and of course - the box and duct tape needed to complete the task!  Of all my creations such far, this has been - by far - the most loved by Kiddo!  It's finally to the point where it needs to meet the trash.  Unfortunately, the "blower" part came off once water got inside the box.  Perhaps the back porch wasn't the best storage spot for this creation - even if it was only temporarily!
Remnants of Leaf Blower only - - missing the box!

2) Robot

DH video-taped part of this particular creation.  In addition to the boxes and duct tape, there was some wrapping paper involved in making the body and the head.  The robot even had box-feet that were red, and a "belly" with doors that hid a couple of toys!  It was bigger than the kid.  Thankfully, no electronics were involved in this version of the robot!  It was, however, inspired in part by one of kiddo's favorite TV Characters - a robot named "Plex" from the show Yo Gabba Gabba!

3) Tea-cup

One of Kiddo's favorite box-games is where he sits in the box and makes Mommy sing the song, "I'm a little teacup, short and stout.  Here is my handle, here is my spout.  When I get all steamed up, here me shout - - tip me over, pour me out!" - - Complete, of course, with mommy tipping/kicking the box over and dumping the kid out of the box at the "tip me over" part in the lyrics!

4) Fire Truck

This was simple, two dimensional - - but colorful and had lots of input from Kiddo!

5) Airplane

Kiddo wanted to bring a paper plane home from dinner one night.  Momma said no, and Grandma said "I'll build you a bigger, better one!".  Sorry, Grandma, that this momma didn't give you a chance and stepped in with some duct tape and boxes!  (Only because one of the boxes was long and skinny, making it perfect for the body of the plane!)

6) Zebra (in progress)

Hopefully a wordless Wednesday will hold this guy's picture soon.  Just a little zebra... but one that doubles as a necklace/costume (or something along those lines...)  Inspired, to some degree, by a Halloween costume that my mother made for my little brother many years ago... of course, I'm referring to the Sam-In-The-Box!
In progress...
Updated to add pictures... since there isn't anything worse than an #unsatisfiedsubscriber !
