7 links

I am pretty good at stealing other people's ideas, on occasion. This one, however, was something I thought would make me reflect on my 3 years (or so) of posting blogs - so - thanks to my friend Melizza from across the pond for today's inspiration!

The idea is simple: bloggers publish 7 links from their blog to share lessons learned and create a bank of long but not forgotten blog posts that deserve to see the light of day again. (Perhaps I stopped reading the specific details after the "7 links from my blog", but this is my interpretation of the topic!)

1. First post ever! How the Blog got it's Name
2. The Start of Something Good: Love, Hope, Do...
3. My Personal Favorite (that should get more attention): Marathon 2007
4. Life-Changing Event - and One of the best Blog Titles!: Parasite Incubator to Parasite Host
5. Most randomly blogged about topic: The first of several posts about Bagels
6. Best "family" Documentation: Strawberry Picking!
7. Most Popular Post (per my Blog Stats): Service

Bonus Round:
Trip Documentation - Cruise to Spain, Italy, Morocco, France
Cool Blog Idea - 30 day challenge
Reader nominated: Cocktail Weenie
Reader Nominated: While walking outside my office building...

Love: Reminiscing blog posts... Although after a while, it did become more of a tedious chore!
Hope: It isn't "cheating" to repost old stuff!
Do: Hope to post again this week!
Number: 10 - the number of blogs referenced in today's post!

Vivid Dreams and sleepless nights

Who is this person that has taken over my body?

It's 4:30 am, and I can't sleep.

The last several nights, I've had some odd- and vivid dreams. And tonight, for some reason, I can't sleep. Ack!

I had a dream about work not too long ago. I was fired. And luckily, after I came in that day, someone mentioned that I still worked there. Whew! I really wanted to ask my boss when I walked in that morning. Maybe I didn't because I am typically there before she gets in.

I had a dream about the house. The people that sold it to us left a BUNCH of stuff. And the house was ENORMOUS. And they continued to haunt us. On the 4th of July, all these people (including them, all of their friends, etc) randomly showed up for a party. It was odd hosting a party for people we didn't know. And the stuff they left us included a room with it's own ice machine, and more camping equipment than we would ever need.

The ex-hubby slipped into my dreams tonight. I'm not sure why, either. And for some reason, I was angry with him. Hmm. I thought I let go of that anger a long time ago. Somehow, though, it did make me snuggle closer to the DH tonight.

Then, there is this obsession with potty training that I can't get off my mind. Why does someone think of potty training in the wee hours of the morning? We've had 3 successful evenings of peeing in the toilet, now, and I guess I'm stoked!

So, a midnight- or 4am snack for me, a drink of water, a quick blog post, and yes - I am headed back to bed. This time, I hope sleep is coming with me.

Love: My DH and my Boy
Hope: Sleep comes with me.
Do: Get off the stinkin' computer!

Groove?

Maybe I'm getting my "groove" back - this is, after all, the third post in less than 7 days!

We'll see - the jury is still out on next week's postings.

Some days, like today, I feel the need to share - but no real meat to the topic.

That is why I began subscribing to the "Post a day" idea thing that I found at a blogger site. And although I've been subscribing to that for several months now, I'm not sure that I've actually used one of their topics. So that all changes... today. And the topic isn't even one of the better ones, but here goes nothing!

The topic: How many friends can a person have?

I guess today's post should be easy with my ending "Number:" thought.. but see, I already digress.

For some reason, this brings me back to something I received via a notorious chain-mail back in 2006. It's one of the few items I still have in my email box. Perhaps I was impressionable at the time, but it something that I often think about anytime "friends" are mentioned. So here it is... Wish I could quote the author.

PEOPLE COME INTO YOUR LIFE FOR A REASON

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you
know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When
someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you
have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to
provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally
or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there
for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your
part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to
bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk
away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must
realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is
done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move
on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come
to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you
laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give
you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a
season!

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build
upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept
the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all
other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind
but friendship is clairvoyant.

I really hate to "categorize" my friends - things like who is your "best" friend, or what's your "number" of friends.

Friends are very special, though. And regardless of when - or why - my friends have been in my life, they have each made a difference and helped me become a piece - a small fraction - of who I am today. Many of my friends I do not speak to often. For some, it has possibly been years that have gone by. However... I am lucky - and blessed - to have several very special people in my life. For those people, I am honored to be able to call them my friend.

The "daily" topic suggests I should answer questions with this blog such as, "How many good or close friends do you think a person can have?" and "What happens if they try to maintain more than that?"

I think the only question I'll bother to answer today, though, is the final one asked: "What about social networks like Facebook and Twitter?"

My "Number:" for today is my current Facebook friend count. Dumb, perhaps - but that's the only way I know to "count." After all, I don't really want to spend all evening coming up with a list on my own!

Love: Friends
Hope: I continue, as the song says, to "Make new friends, but keep the old. Some are silver and the others Gold."
Do: Study. Because I must.

S is for Sleepy

At least lately.. I've had a bit less-than-my-usual-energy level.

It makes it a bit tougher chasing down a not-yet-two year old. However, it makes managing the not-yet-two-year-old and rabbit-chasing dogs even more difficult!

I think for the summer, our count is dogs: 5, rabbits: 0. Unless you count the one that ran toward Katie and managed (somehow) to get away.. of course, I think that one is most likely gone by now, also.

However, on another scale... I think it's ants: 1232 people: 0. We're still working on that.

I guess if summer is about ants and rabbits, though, it must be pretty quiet otherwise.

Love: Summer
Hope: The sleep goes away!
Do: Study? Maybe.
Number: We're going with the dog's "rabbit kill" count: 5.

Slacker

It's been over a week. In fact, it's quickly approaching almost two weeks!

Blech!

I don't know why I've been uninspired - and maybe even a bit down the last week or two. I've got a visitor for a bit, and got to go shopping today which was lots of fun!

Otherwise, though... I'm a slacker. Certifiable.

And today? Just a short and sweet post to make sure everyone knows that I have not, in fact, fallen off the face of the planet. I'm sure I'll be inspired to write again soon. In the meantime... well... Hope everyone enjoys their independence this weekend!

Love: Visitors
Hope: The "blahs" go away
Do: Something.
