Pedometer Slave

I am a pedometer slave NO MORE!

There's some relief in knowing I won't have to stomp around my house late at night (and any time I get the chance) just to get my 10,000 steps a day in.

As much as I would really like to SMASH my pedometer- it is something that is nice to wear on vacation! The last several days, I haven't put much effort in - of course, I also didn't make my target. Not a fabulous end to the twelve weeks, but I am a better person for having tried!

We were a team of 7 Warriors. Somehow, even as "Team Captain" (aka Indian Chief), I sadly can't recall all of the "warrior" titles I assigned. However, among us include:
Indian Chief
Gladiator
Alpha Warrior
Road Warrior
Shadow Warrior
Fire Warrior

Time to enjoy more fun, sun, wine and exploring - that's right, I'm on vacation!

Love: Travelling with my boys!
Hope: I continue to get my steps in - even if they don't "count" officially. Although now that I check, I'm not currently wearing my pedometer...
Do: Wear my pedometer - at least through the end of vacation. I might as well, I had to bring it with me!
Number: 5 - for the number of wineries we have visited thus far!

Numbers..

For some reason, I've had numbers swimming through my head lately.

As I was mentally crafting this post, I was on a walk with the dog - something I should do tonight, again - and I saw fireflies. Not quite one-million, but the song that starts with the lyric, "one million fire flies" did come to mind. Only a handful. And so my mindset began..

At the time, I was about 73% through my book - that is, according to the new kindle! I am loving it, and working my way through yet another trilogy - this time, the "Hunger Games" which is fascinating and so wrong.

2:36 came to mind - that was DH's finish time for his half marathon. I looked up the one official half-marathon I ran in - which I thought was fast - at a 2:51!

20.9% is a number that has significance at work - from a recent rate filing.

The steps in the front of the house have been counted and re-counted... there are still 5.

The dogs will be in the kennel for 9 nights on our upcoming trip - and their food is already to go - 9 bags each.

The score on TV is 8 to 18.

My pedometer isn't yet up to the 10,000 I am aiming for in this last week - and I am drained of energy, still sore from the Gladiator 5K which I ran this weekend.

Numbers are everywhere. Some days, it almost feels as if they are attacking me. Good thing I like numbers- at least on most days.

Love: Counting.
Hope: Today involves a little less crying by kiddo. He had a tough day today.
Do: Start another book? Get some more walking in? Or maybe just call it a night?
Numbers: See above.

All things wrestling...

All things wrestling make me think of my brother.

RIP Mach Man Randy Savage.

As a child, my little brother had a stuffed doll. He and the doll wrestled - all. the. time. There was plenty of WWF on at our house.

And besides, my "daily post" suggested that I write about a headline.

I found out about this on the radio - where I hear most of my news. For example, Scotty on American Idol is from Garner - and made the top two. That's pretty exciting stuff for this area - they had a concert, a special edition of the radio show, etc. I've heard from his manager at the super market, and his middle school vocal teacher. Bizarre - but true!

Love: Catching my news on the radio.
Hope: My "Gladiator" race goes well today!
Number: 5 - for the Gladiator 5K, of course!
Do: Need to get crackin' on laundry and such this weekend!

Oh, What a day!

I suppose the song lyric I am thinking of is actually, "Oh, what a night!"

Anyhow - today was laundry day. And it's still not totally done - but for the first time in several months, you can SEE the floor in our Bonus room! Yay!

Along with the floor in the bonus room, the bathroom has been scrubbed, the kitchen mopped, and the living area swept. The yard is mowed, the dog is walked, and the papers have all been sorted through. Yep, lots of chores got done at our house today.

And that's not all!

We went to Goodberry's for custard. Between DH and I, we had raspberry, blueberry, peach, strawberry, and banana! I'll let you figure out the combination from there..

For dinner, it was the ever-popular, "make your own pizza" night.

And it wasn't over yet! We talked to some family, and began the planning process for our VACATION - we'll be in San Francisco two weeks from today! I'm very excited.

A great way to end a rockin' weekend. And tomorrow? It's back to work! I expect another busy, busy work week...

Love: Laundry no longer hanging over my head!
Hope: The week is productive!
Do: Get some shut-eye.
Number: 19,904 - steps for the day. I WILL be over 20,000 before the day is over!

Spontaneous!

I didn't want to post the details about being "spontaneous" before we took our surprise-trip to Texas - so I'll post some details now!

The night before the test last week, we were talking and everything just seemed to be suggesting that we should take a spontaneous trip to Texas! Two of the nephews were celebrating birthdays, so we knew we would get to see most of the family.

We had two days of eating the same dinner- and lots of family! It was awesome, though - we got to see snakes and cows, we picked blackberries, and Kiddo played "ball" with a dog and sat on a lawn tractor!

All in all, a successful trip!

Love: Surprises!
Hope: I get some time to just relax this weekend!
Do: need to go on a long run!
Number: 17 - for the show that I am watching on TV, now that I can watch TV again!

Alpha

I didn't capture the picture quite in time. I said in my clear, "dog" voice, "sit". So my beloved obedient child did as I said. My dog? Stared at me as if to ask, "do you really mean that I have to?"

The idea was to capture Kiddo doing one of his new favorite chores- "walking" Katie! He loves it when she is on her leash and he gets to hold it!

Luckily, most of the time we are in the back yard where it doesn't make a huge difference... Silly kid. He also likes to sweep with the big broom - I think we're going to need a second one just because he doesn't like to give it up!

So - in our family, I guess I'm alpha over Kiddo. The verdict is still out on the dog, I think!

Test is over - Thank goodness! And we've decided to be spontaneous - which is always fun!

Anyhow..

Love: Learning through Kiddo
Hope: I don't have to go through the trauma of failing... again.
Do: Get to bed early! Didn't sleep so well last night..
Number: I would post my candidate number from the test, but instead I'll post the "screwed up" one they sent first (which may not be accurate, as I'm going from memory and my mind has been filled with multiple other items as of late..) - 1282.
