Chocolate Dipped Brandy Snaps

1/2 c butter
1/2 c sugar
1/3 c corn syrup
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 c. flour
2 tsp brandy
1c dark chocolate chips
1 T shorterning
1/3 c sliced almonds (or other chopped nuts)

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.  Melt first 5 ingredients in med saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.  Remove from heat, stir in flour and brandy.

Drop by rounded teaspoon about 3 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.  Flatten each drop of dough with a spatula, bake for 10-14 minutes.  Roll around wooden spoon handle, let cool completely, and dip in melted chocolate/shortening.  Sprinkle with nuts.  Refrigerate.
